🌐 Adding a New Domain

Learn how to add a new domain and access advanced options before starting your accessibility scan.

Updated this week

To add a new domain:

1. Go to AccessibilityChecker.org and log in.

2. Click the "Add Domain" button to get started.

3. Choose Your Crawling Method

A pop-up window will now appear, and you will be prompted to add your sitemap. Using this method helps us scan your website faster and more accurately. If you don't know where to find your sitemap, click here.

If you don't have a sitemap, you can choose from one of the following crawling methods:

  • Auto-index. Our tool will automatically collect all of the pages associated with your website. Please note this can take longer.

  • Add pages manually. You can manually add the URLs you want to scan.

4. Select Your WCAG Conformance Levels

Next, you will need to select the WCAG conformance levels you want to test your website against. Options include WCAG 2.1 Level A, AA, or AAA, WCAG 2.2 Level A & AA, and Additional Best Practices, which is recommended.

5. Add Website Authentication Details

If your website has any password protected pages, you can add the necessary authentication details. Here's how.

6. Advanced Settings

There are also some Advanced Settings you can set by ticking the Advanced Settings checkbox. These setting include:

  • Choosing whether to conduct scanning from the US or EU in case your website uses bot protection

  • Adding a Custom Header to ensure our tool can access your website

7. Create a Dynamic Accessibility Statement (Optional)

As a final step, you will also be given the option to set up a dynamic accessibility statement, which automatically updates as you make progress and shows that you're currently working on the accessibility of your website. However, you can choose to set this up later.

8. Click on 'Start' and your domain will now be added to your dashboard.
